Speaking to the Minister of Education
(Updated September 2024, in response to the provincial announcement on 17 September.)
Hi, I am a constituent in Edmonton (name of riding), my postal code is: [insert yours here]. My name is ____.
I am calling Minister Nicolaides in his capacity as the Minister of Education to follow up on the announcement made by Premier Smith on September 17. As you are aware, the current situation has left many communities struggling with overcrowded classrooms, inadequate facilities, and educational infrastructure that is in decline. These conditions are not only detrimental to students’ academic performance but also their over-all well-being.
New schools are urgently needed in the Edmonton Public School Division to accommodate the growing student population and to ensure that our educational institutions are equipped to provide a safe and conducive learning environment. Without immediate action in the way of funding vital projects for the region, our growing student population faces a bleak road to graduation.
As the premier identified in her address to the province, investing in the construction of new schools is critical. This is not an expense but an investment in the future of Alberta.
I urge you to prioritize the approval and release of funds for all the pending school construction projects for the Edmonton Public School division without delay. The provincial government must act swiftly and decisively to provide all students with the learning environments they deserve.
I kindly request a prompt response outlining the steps your office is taking to address the issues that Edmonton Public School Division currently face.
Thank you for your attention in this critical matter.
